Mrs. Cristela E Satterfield

Greetings

I am so excited to be part of the Wagner High School English Department, teaching English 1 again this year. I look forward to seeing everyone upon their return to campus for the 2023-2024 school year.

Some information on me and my years in the education field. I have been teaching for seventeen (17 years), all of them at secondary level, teaching English at all grade levels. Previous to being in the classroom, I worked in other areas in the education field, as a teaching assistant, as an assistant coach at the elementary level, tutoring/mentor at the middle school level, as well as working as a clerk and secretary at administration offices. The culmination of 25 years total in the educational field has been one of the best experiences for me.

During my free time I enjoy gardening, crocheting, reading, and spending time with family.  I am a grandmother and enjoy spending time with my grandchildren. My husband and I enjoy going on road trips and visiting new places during our time off. Most of those trips are to historical sites across Texas.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English degree from the University of Texas Pan American, now known as the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in Edinburg, Texas. My minor is in History and this past May, 2023, I earned my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction degree from Grand Canyon University in Phoniex, Arizona.

My goal for this year is to help students build their confidence in being able to analyze their readings and improve their writing skills.

I look forward to meeting each of you and working with you to help you achieve your academic goals in English 1.
