Ms. Kate Wood

Kate Wood grew up in the Ozarks enjoying the lakes and hiking around her family land. Coach Wood majored in Theatre Arts with a focus on Costume Design at Stephens College in Columbia, MO. Following college, Kate worked at Dallas Theatre Center and Dallas Shakespeare before receiving a job offer to manage the costume shop for Cohoes Music Hall in Upstate New York. After two years, Kate and her husband, Fred, decided they had enough winter and returned to Fred's childhood home, San Antonio.
Kate has been a teacher at Wagner high school since the '15-'16 school year. Since starting, Kate has coached the swim team, taught English II, English IV, AP Literature and debate. This 2023-2024 academic year, Kate is teaching AP Literature and Composition and facilitating Texas College Bridge (A self-paced online course).
Kate is a passionate advocate for social justice, specifically in education, and recently completed a graduate degree in Creative Writing, Literature, and Social Justice at Our Lady of the Lake University.
