My name is Jeffery Vela, a Special Education teacher. This year I am the Behavior Academic Classroom teacher here at Woodlake Hills Middle School.  I have been teaching for 14 years.  I have taught 8th grade Reading, ELAR, US History, 7th grade ELAR, Texas History, and 5th and 6th grade ELAR.  This is my third year working for 野花社区视频 ISD and I am excited to be a part of this community once again.  I attended 野花社区视频 High School as a student when I was in 11th grade.  I was on the 野花社区视频 football team lead by Coach D.W. Rutledge.  I attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice.  I also graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law and received my Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree in 2002.  I recently obtained a Master's Degree in Special Education at The University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley. 

I have raised three daughters as a single parent, with one following her parents footsteps in teaching and the other two in college working on their bachelor degree.  I like to spend time with my daughters at theme parks, mostly Disneyland or Disney World.  I enjoy working with students and encouraging them to work hard for their goals and believe in themselves. 

As an educator, the single most important thing to teach children is to believe in themselves and to develop the will to be better. Muhammad Ali once said, “Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: A desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have a late minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.” As a champion of children, Mr. Vela encourages his students to become champions, not for him, but for themselves.
