Middle School Choir Courses

  • Band, Choir and Orchestra courses will require students to participate in some afterschool practices and evening performances.

    All choirs perform a minimum of 3 required after-school concerts that take place at the middle school.

    Beginning Choir
    6th grade      Full Year
    This class is for students in the sixth grade that love to sing and wants to learn more about their voice. Students will learn how to sing, basic music theory and developing music reading skills. This class provides many opportunities to sing with a group for concerts, contests, and occasionally, as an individual. Students will perform several types of music, from classical to today's popular music.

    Intermediate Choir
    7th and 8th grades      Full Year
    This class is for students in grades seven and eight that love to sing and wants to learn more about their voice. Students will continue to learn sing skills, basic music theory and developing music reading skills. This class provides many opportunities to sing with a group for concerts, contests, and occasionally, as an individual. Students will perform several types of music, from classical to today's popular music.

    Junior Varsity Choir
    7th and 8th grades      Full Year
    Prerequisite: Choir Director's approval based on audition and previous experience.
    This class is for students in grades seven and eight with at least one year of choral music experience. This class provides many opportunities to sing with a group for concerts, UIL events, contests and occasionally, as an individual. In addition to singing, this class also involves music theory and advancing music reading skills. Students will perform several types of music, from classical to today's popular music.

    Varsity Choir
    7th and 8th grades      Full Year
    Prerequisite: Choir Director's approval based on audition and previous experience.
    This class is for seventh and eighth grade students with at least one year of choral music experience. This class provides many opportunities to sing with a group for concerts, UIL events, contests and occasionally, as an individual. In addition to singing, this class also involves music theory and advancing music reading skills. Students will perform several types of music, from classical to today's popular music.
