Dulce Juarez is a 7th-grade teacher at Metzger Middle School and is the January JISD Key Contributor!

When you step into Juarez’s 7th grade class, you would have no idea that she’s relatively new to the teaching profession, although, you might have a hard time distinguishing her from her students! While she looks almost like one of the students, she has an incredible presence in her classroom. You can see immediately that she builds relationships with her students, creating a caring, fun and effective learning environment for every student.

As a lead teacher, Juarez invests in the team by always being available to assist her peers with planning and content while also supporting them emotionally. She models lifelong learning for her peers and students and is always willing to try new strategies to enhance the teaching and learning on the Metzger campus.

Juarez exemplifies the 野花社区视频 ISD Leadership Definition every day by treating everyone well, investing in people and planning for success.

Yvonne Schuler is the Adult and Community Education and Adventure Club Coordinator and the December JISD Key Contributor!

Not only can you count on Schuler for great customer service, always helping others and answering questions, but you can also count on her doing it with flair and creativity. She shares her talents and skills to make Adventure Club a place where students can thrive artistically and have fun at the same time.

She uses those same skills to make the workplace more fun and welcoming. During the holiday season, Schuler has created a maker space in the halls of the ERC. Staff members can take a five-minute craft break to create something festive - snow globes, holiday bracelets, or an ornament. She even bakes homemade cookies that you can share with a new friend while you are there. If crafts aren’t for you, she has also placed holiday word finds, crossword puzzles and festive pictures for people to color a portion of during the day.

None of these things takes but a few moments to do and the rewards are numerous. One staff member was feeling stressed and breaking out in hives. After completing the 5-minute activity, she was calm and the hives disappeared. Schuler is creating a place where people who work in the same building are meeting each other for the first time or are taking a few minutes to learn more about each other. Schuler’s activities are bringing people together to create a better place to work.

One of Schuler’s colleagues says that she is a true example of the JISD motto One Home, One Family, uniting us into one happier, healthier work family.

Christine Parker is the November JISD Key Contributor!

As the counselor at Miller’s Point Elementary, Parker tends to the day-to-day needs of students and staff on her campus while also facilitating programs on campus that make Miller’s Point a better place to learn and work.

Every week, Parker hosts Tea Time with several staff members to check in with them and see how she can best support them and the students in their classes. This kind of personal interaction allows her to make important connections that improve teaching and learning on her campus.

Not only does Parker model treating others well but also encourages others to do the same. She created the Miller’s Point Kindness Crew to spread kindness throughout the school community. Recently, the Kindness crew held a “Spread Kindness Morning” greeting families in the drop-off line with handmade kindness signs, streamers and cheers. 

Parker continuously reminds the MPE Family that treating others well is a priority. The Kindness Pledge is recited every day and once a  week a student from the Kindness Crew shares a Kindness Mission of the Week.

Parker continues to find creative ways to positively impact her school community, whether it’s by passing out book rings with motivational affirmations or sharing calming techniques with staff members. She invests in people at MPE through her actions and engagement.

When Terry Clark was announced as October’s Key Contributor, you could hear whispers of  “well-deserved” and see lots of head nodding. Clark is clearly a Key Contributor in the 野花社区视频 ISD Transportation Department. 

As a dispatcher, Clark’s job is to make sure bus routes are covered day in and day out. He starts every day very early in the morning ready to ensure our buses have drivers to deliver students to school safely. 

Clark invests in people to create positive outcomes for students. He is one of the first contacts when parents need information on bus route locations. He works closely with extracurricular coaches, directors and sponsors to ensure their safe arrival to competitions, games and events, even if that means working long hours. 

Clark is a collaborative member of the JISD Transportation team, sharing ideas to help the department continuously grow and improve.

It was easy to tell that Martha Sanchez, a Bilingual Dyslexia teacher at Hartman Elementary, does not do her job for the accolades or acknowledgment. As she quietly accepted the September Key Contributor award from Dr. Fields, one could tell what she really wanted was to get back to the business of teaching the students, something that does not surprise her coworkers.

“I often hear parents compliment Mrs. Sanchez's teaching and reading remediation techniques and she smiles humbly and quietly,” Hartman 野花社区视频Monica Rodriguez said.

During the last three years Sanchez has worked at Hartman, she has impacted students with reading difficulties with measurable results. And the students not only read better, but they also love doing the work with their teacher. 

“You should see her work with her students; they love to go to class and don't even want to leave,” Rodriguez said.

Sanchez is a teacher and communicator who understands that sharing strategies and data not only with her colleagues but also with her students’ parents creates a path to student improvement and success. 

“She has been a source of expertise serving all students and supporting campus-wide literacy. She has become an instrumental team member of the Hartman Special Education Department and a critical member of all ARD meetings with her reliable data reports,” Rodriguez said.

It is clear that through her work with students, parents, and staff, Sanchez is a living example of the 野花社区视频 ISD Leadership Definition, treating people well, investing in others, and planning for success. It shows in her work and her results, even if she never seeks to be recognized for it.

“She takes great joy in seeing her students succeed and we are incredibly lucky that she chooses Hartman,” Rodriguez said.
