Shining Star Award

The Superintendent Shining Star Award is meant to promote success in and out of the classroom. The student must exemplify outstanding characteristics both as a student and as a citizen of the community. The student must be able to handle many different aspects of student life while maintaining excellence in the classroom. This award is designed to recognize students who promote and take pride in 野花社区视频 ISD, in their home campus, and in themselves.
Nomination Criteria
To be nominated as Superintendent Shining Star Award, the candidate must be a current 野花社区视频 ISD student. The student will leadership characteristics character in and out of the classroom as well as servant qualities within his/her community.. A student cannot receive the award more than once within a year.
Who Nominates?
Students will be nominated by 野花社区视频 ISD faculty and administration each month. Each month the staff will have the opportunity to submit nominations.
Selections
The selected student's picture and name will be showcased during the month of recognition on the 野花社区视频 website and social media accounts. The student will also be highlighted in 野花社区视频 publications. The superintendent will present a Shining Star certificate to the student as well as a letter will be mailed home with a lawn sign for the parents.

Maximiliano Ruelas, 5th Grade, Miller’s Point Elementary
We are excited to celebrate 5th grader Max Ruelas, the Miller’s Point Superintendent Shining Star!
Max is a positive example to the entire Miller’s Point student body both in his commitment to excellence in academics and behavior. He has an exceptional work ethic, always treats others well and can be counted on to do the right thing.
Max is a well-rounded student, participating in the Miller's Point Art Club, Cooking Club, and Marimba Club. He also plays soccer.
Congratulations to Max for being a great example of the 野花社区视频 ISD Leadership Definition, and inspiring his fellow Jets.
Camryn Johnson, 5th grade, Masters Elementary
Congratulations to 5th grader Camryn Johnson for being the Masters Elementary Superintendent’s Shining Star.
The moment Camryn steps on campus she is ready to learn. She is an excellent student, always giving her best effort in the classroom. Camyrn is kind and respectful and role model to other students. She volunteers in the Masters library and is always willing to help fellow students or classmates. We are proud of Camryn for consistently modeling the JISD Leadership Definition by treating everyone well, planning for success and investing in people.
Juan Ruiz, 12th grade, 野花社区视频 Learning Academy
At 野花社区视频 Learning Academy, Juan Ruiz is a true example of the 野花社区视频 ISD Leadership Definition and their Superintendent’s Shining Star!
Juan comes to school every day with an energetic attitude, positive outlook and a friendly disposition, making JLA a great place to be every day. He is kind and polite in his manner and treats others well.
Juan is planning for success every day. He sets goals for himself, meets them and helps others without being asked. He not only plans for his own success but encourages others to do the same.
Juan is also actively planning for his future. He has completed his FAFSA application, Apply Texas application and is exploring a variety of college options. Juan asks for help when he needs it, and always keeps his goals in sight. He is determined to accomplish all the goals he sets for himself.

February 2024 Superintendent Shining Stars
DonaVan Richardson, 5th Grade, Crestview Elementary
Every day, fifth grader DonaVan Richardson treats people well, invests in others and plans for the future. That’s why he is the Crestview Elementary Superintendent’s Shining Star!
DonaVan is an excellent role model to his peers. He is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone on campus, students and staff alike. He is respectful to all and works hard every day. He always strives to make his teachers proud.
You can count on DonaVan to take initiative in any situation and he always follows through. He not only ensures his own success by working hard but also supports his fellow Eagles, making sure they are also successful. DonaVan embraces the leadership qualities Crestview instills in its students and has become a true role model for others.
DonaVan is a talented speaker; he was the emcee for Crestview’s Talent Show, where he had the audience laughing at his great jokes! He is in the Gifted and Talented program and is already thinking about his future, hoping to attend JSTEM for middle school.
Darius Burley, 12th Grade, Wagner High School
Congratulations to Wagner High School Senior Darius Burley for being a February Superintendent’s Shining Star!
Darius is a true student-leader at WHS. He sets a great example for underclassmen by consistently demonstrating character traits that lead to success. He is active on campus, participating in Football. Bowling, Unified Basketball, and Band.
Darius encourages his fellow classmates to participate in activities and be active on campus. He is a shining example of not only the T-Bird culture but also the JISD Leadership Definition by treating people well, investing in others and planning for the future.
Lillian Ruder, 8th Grade, JSTEM
Lillian is an 8th grader and a leader on her campus. She shows her leadership skills in both the classroom and on the athletic field. She continually strives for continuous improvement for herself and those around her. Lilian is respected by her peers and is known to put others’ interests and needs before her own.Lillian plays volleyball outside of school and recently represented JSTEM in the Future City Competition. We are excited to celebrate Lillian for exhibiting the traits of the 野花社区视频 Leadership Definition by continuously treating people well, investing in others and planning for the future. -
January 2024 Superintendent Shining Stars
Liam Fluke, Escondido Elementary
Liam Fluke is a January Superintendent Shining Star! Liam is a 2nd grader at Escondido Elementary and a leader on his campus. He is a role model for all Lions, always displaying a positive attitude and smile that is infectious. He encourages other to do their best and make good choices and is always there to assist others.
Liam is a a student representative for Escondido’s Military Connected Families, helping new Lions feel welcome on campus. He volunteers on campus and is always asking what he can do to help, even at after school events.
Liam is a conscientious student and is a member of the National Elementary Honor Society. In the classroom he encourages others and after finishing his own work, assists his classmates to ensure their success. He is open and accepting to new ideas and is creative and excited to try new things.
Liam has a very busy schedule both in and outside of school. At school, he participates in UIL, iPlay, Choir and loves to learn about historical events. Outside of school, he participates in church choir and youth league sports such as basketball and football. He has a passion for STEM activities including video games!
We are proud of Liam for being a shining example of the JISD Leadership Definition by continually treating people well, investing in people and planning for success!
Noah Jauregui, 野花社区视频 Middle School
Congratulations to Noah Jauregui, 野花社区视频 Middle School’s Superintendent Shining Star!
As an 8th grader, Noah uses his experience at JMS to help others. He escorts new students around campus, works as a library aide and is on the morning announcement team. He is always available to lend a helping hand to his peers or JMS staff members. He shows his selflessness and love for his fellow Jaguars by volunteering in the JMS Life Skills classroom.

Rohan Koltowski, 5th grade, Hartman Elementary
Rohan Koltowski is a Knight with honor, dignity, and outstanding character. He is also Hartman Elementary’s Superintendent Shining Star!
Rohan is a 5th grader who leads by example and exhibits the traits of the JISD Leadership Definition daily. He treats other well by always being kind, helpful and patient. He invests in people by volunteering in many of the counseling and social work activities on campus. He plans for success by being an excellent student who has been on the Honor Roll his entire elementary school career.
Rohan is on the safety patrol, is an avid reader, loves to build virtual cities and enjoys playing club football.

December 2023 Superintendent Shining Stars
Heiress Grimsley is the Franz Leadership Academy Superintendent Shining Star! She is in fifth grade and is on the Safety Patrol and a member of the Student Council.
As a morning patrol, Heiress serves as a greeter at the front door. She greets each student and staff member with a smile and a warm welcome. She doesn't let any Mustang go by without an encouraging word.
Heiress is a positive role model for younger Mustangs who see her every morning at her patrol duty station. She goes above and beyond to exhibit FLA’s Leader in Me Habits. She gives back to her school community as a volunteer in the FLA Food Pantry.
Heiress has an exceptional work ethic and always puts forth her best effort in all she does. She plans for her own success by setting goals and continually checking her progress toward achieving them.

November 2023 Superintendent Shining Stars
Callum Johnston, Wortham Oaks Elementary
The November Superintendent Shining from Wortham Oaks Elementary is Callum Johnston. Callum is in the third grade and participates in Student Council, Gifted and Talented, and Lego Club. He comes to school every day with a positive attitude, ready to learn. Callum has an outstanding work ethic and is a role model for other Wildcats, encouraging them to do their best work and make good choices. Callum knows the value of positive relationships, going out of his way to make all students feel included and always being respectful to both staff members and peers. We are proud of Callum for being a reflection of the 野花社区视频 ISD Leadership Definition by treating everyone well, planning for success and investing in people.
Jedadiah Mele, Kitty Hawk Middle School
Congratulations to Jedadiah Mele, eighth grader at Kitty Hawk Middle School, for being named a Superintendent Shining Star. Jedadiah is in all honors classes and loves Theatre Arts. He has also participated in robotics and soccer. When he’s not involved in school activities, Jedadiah and his family focus on their church and help raise funds for a building. Jedadiah shows his leadership skills in the way that he treats people, always befriending new students and showing empathy to his peers. He is a model Kitty Hawk Flyer and the epitome of the 野花社区视频 ISD leadership definition by purposefully treating others well, planning for success and investing in people.
Ava Williams, Elolf STEAM Academy
Elolf STEAM Academy’s Ava Williams is a Superintendent Shining Star! Ava is a fifth grader who is a natural leader. She is a caring student who helps others recognize their own strengths and talents. Ava is not only a willing learner, she also has the ability to teach others with patience and kindness. Because of her work ethic and focus on academics, Ava will become a member of the National Elementary Honor Society. She also participates in Iplay and assists as a student coach for soccer. We are proud of Ava for exhibiting the traits of the 野花社区视频 ISD Leadership Definition earning her the Superintendent’s Shining Star Award!

October 2023 Superintendent Shining Stars
Isabella Bostick, Copperfield Elementary
The October Superintendent Shining Star from Copperfield Elementary is Isabella Bostick. Isabella is a third grader and is already making an impact on her school and community. Recently, Isabella collected 123 jars of peanut butter to help feed families in need. She is also a leader in the classroom, modeling exceptional behavior each and every day. Isabella enjoys gymnastics where she is a Junior Olympic Gymnast and soccer as a Captain on a Select Soccer team. Isabella’s principal describes her as honest, hardworking and willing to serve others. We are proud of Isabella for being a shining example of the 野花社区视频 ISD Leadership definition by treating everyone well, planning for success and investing in people.
Abigail Harris, Metzger Middle School
Abigail Harris is a sixth grader at Metzger Middle School and is a Superintendent Shining Star. Abigail is a compassionate and caring leader at MMS. She befriends students who may be struggling socially. She cares about her school community by volunteering to clean up around campus. Abigail is a scholar and pushes herself to pursue excellence by taking all honors classes. We are proud of Abigail for her constant reflection of the 野花社区视频 ISD Leadership Definition by treating everyone well, planning for success and investing in people.
Alicia Sepulveda, Paschall Elementary
Congratulations to Alicia Sepulveda, fifth grader at Paschall Elementary, for being named a Superintendent Shining Star! Alicia is an honors student who focuses time and attention on her academic success. She is also a talented singer, participating in the JISD Musical Summer Camp and a member of the Paschall Honor Choir where she demonstrates her leadership skills by helping other students learn their music. Alicia takes initiative by consistently asking how she can help her teachers and other students. Her determination and positive attitude are a positive influence on all those around her. Thank you to Alica for treating everyone well, planning for success and investing in people, making Paschall a better place for students and staff!
Macie Justice, Rolling Meadows Elementary
Rolling Meadows Elementary’s Macie Justice is a Superintendent Shining Star! Macie is a 5th grader who already has a focused passion. As a person who lives with Juvenile Arthritis, she is passionate about educating others about the disease. She spends her spare time making t-shirts, bracelets, stickers and cards that she sells to raise money for Juvenile Arthritis causes. Macie doesn’t let JA slow her down. She enjoys YMCA Volleyball and Basketball as well as Karate. Macie exercises her leadership muscles as Treasurer of the Children’s Republic of Texas. Macie is another outstanding example of the JISD Leadership Definition as she continuously treats everyone well, plans for success and invests in people.
