To meet the needs of our growing community and continue to provide quality instruction to our students in a safe and secure environment, the Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ Independent School District developed a staggered process for registration for the 2024-2025 school year. Although the registration process is staggered, the Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ continues to provide options for our community by continuing the School of Choice option, which allows Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ ISD families to choose any school within the Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ to attend regardless of attendance zone, and the Out of District option for families living outside the Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ ISD boundaries that wish to attend one of our schools.
- Returning Students – Refers to any student currently enrolled at a JISD campus regardless of OOD, SOC, or Attendance Zoned status.
- New Registration – Refers to any student that moves into the JISD attendance zone or any student that is not currently registered at a JISD campus or not contiguously registered at a JISD campus year to year. ​
- School of Choice (SOC) – Refers to any students that lives in the JISD attendance zone that requests transfer, transfers to, or currently attends a JISD campus outside of the assigned attendance zoned campus.
- Out of District (OOD) – Refers to any students that live outside the JISD attendance boundary

Documents Needed:
Texas law requires the parent enrolling a student under the age of 11 to:
- provide the original or certified copy of the student’s birth certificate at the time of registration; or
- provide other reliable proof of the child’s identity and age (e.g., passport) plus a signed statement explaining the inability to produce an original or certified copy of the birth certificate.

Can I choose to attend any Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ ISD School?
Yes, you may choose any Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ ISD school except for Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ Early College Academy, Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ STEM Academy, Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ Care Academy, Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ Learning Academy (only open to Intra-Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ students), Texas Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (TSTEM) Academy, and the Pre-K3 and PK-4 programs.
Please note that Special Education program locations vary. This may impact your school of choice selection. For more information, please contact your school campus administration or the Department of Special Education Services.

Can my child request another transfer to a different School of Choice during the school year?
Students will be allowed one school of choice transfer by parent request per year, unless approved by the Superintendent or designee. UIL requirements still apply.

Can my child still compete in UIL if they transfer schools?
When a student chooses a school at their first opportunity to participate, they are immediately eligible. If a student changes schools after they have established their eligibility, they are not eligible for varsity competition for 1 year.

How will I be notified that my request has been approved or denied?
Parents will receive an email and/or phone call from the campus they are requesting the transfer to.
The campus will approve the transfer registration request to allow the parent to complete the online registration process. The parent must bring all required documentation to the transferring school as soon as possible to secure a spot and verify enrollment.
If your School of Choice Transfer Request has been denied, it is because your requested campus has reached its enrollment capacity. Please return to the registration link and select your home campus to complete your registration. You may also request a School of Choice Transfer Request to another campus at that time.

Is Pre-K full day or half day?
Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ ISD Pre-K 3 will be a half-day program. The morning class will be from 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and the afternoon session will be from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Afterschool care is not available for Pre-K3 programs.
Pre-K 4 classes are full day from 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Parents can opt for afterschool care for an additional cost.  For more information visit the Adventure Club website or contact the campus directly.

What are the school hours for Pre-Kindergarten programs?
Our Pre-K programs operate from 7:30 am -2:45 pm. Afterschool care through Adventure Club is available.

Why is Pre-K important?
Pre-K is vitally important to a child’s development and school readiness. Your child will have early language, literacy, and math experiences to better prepare them for academic rigor in later grades. Attending Pre-K also helps young students to gain a sense of self-exploration, discovery, and confidence. Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ ISD’s program offers a safe environment, high-quality integrated curriculum, highly qualified teachers, and ongoing assessments with progress monitoring.

Will I have to request a transfer to the school of choice annually?
School of Choice students are students who live within Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ ISD boundaries. SOC students remaining at the same campus will not be required to submit a new School of Choice transfer. However, students transitioning to Middle School and High school will be required to complete a new School of Choice Intra-District transfer. Out of District (Inter-Ò°»¨ÉçÇøÊÓƵ) transfer students must renew their transfer request every year.

Will my child automatically be accepted to the School of Choice (SOC)?
Final determination of a School Choice transfer will depend on the availability of the capacity at the requested school. It is important for parents to submit requests as soon as possible. Parent/guardians will be notified via email in July regarding their child’s acceptance to the SOC.

Will new hires be bound by the timeline to enroll their children?
No, employees are the exception to the rule. However, once a child is enrolled, transfers during the year will not be granted.

Will transportation be available for school of choice students?
No, school of choice requires the parent commitment to provide transportation to and from school. The exception to this rule is for specified programs such as JSTEM, TSTEM, JECA, Dual Language etc.
