Mrs. Jessica Baker

Hello, this is my 17th year teaching and I'm looking forward to another successful year!  I have taught PreK for 2 years overseas in England for the Department of Defense, Kindergarten for 6 years, 2nd Grade for 8 years and this will be my first year as a Dyslexia Teacher!

I truly believe teaching is my calling and I especially love teaching the children in Woodlake Elementary because we are Viking Strong!

I was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas.   I graduated from University of Texas - Brownsville in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in Language Arts and Sciences, including a specialization in Early Childhood Education.  I also hold an ESL certification to teach English Language Learners and Gifted Students.  I am currently pursuing my Dyslexia Therapist Certification through Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, the most comprehensive and indepth dyslexia training program in Texas!

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family which mostly consists of soccer practices and traveling for games, since my son and daughter play for SA City Soccer Club.

I look forward to building positive relationships with my students and parents.  My goal is to facilitate my students to grow into smart, talented, confident, and productive citizens!  Thank you for entrusting me with your child!
