Hello! I am Ms. Barrera, I am excited to be your students' 3rd grade teacher at Converse Elementary.

I was born in Los Angeles, California. I moved to Wichita, Kansas before I was five and lived there until 2022. I then happily moved here to Converse, Texas! I attended Wichita Public Schools all through K-12th grade. I graduated from the largest high school in Kansas! Wichita East High School. Right after high school, I began my college career at Wichita State University. I graduated with my bachelors degree in education in 2014. I spent my first year and a half after college working as a paraprofessional at Anderson Elementary, for Wichita Public Schools. I learned a lot during that time and it helped me in my teaching career. I received my first teaching job as a third grade teacher at the same elementary school and stayed there until I moved here to Texas. When I moved here, I taught first grade at Highland Hills Elementary (SAISD). Now I am here back in my favorite grade with an amazing school! 

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my fiance and my two large dogs named Ross and Bear. My dogs have disabilities, so we spend most of our time inside the house or in the backyard. I also love eating out and trying new restaurants, as well as going on walks/hikes. I am also a gamer and have been my whole life! I enjoy playing video games with my fiance as well as my siblings. It is a nice way to keep in touch and hang out as the four of us live in different states. Teaching is my passion, so I am always looking for ways to learn new things so I can be the best teacher I can be!
