Mrs. Dixie Gonzales

My name is Dixie Gonzales.  I am not a stranger to 野花社区视频 ISD.  I attended Hopkins Elementary (then it was known as Kirby Elementary, Kirby Jr. High, and 野花社区视频 High School until the end of my sophomore year.  I was a member of Kirby Jr. High Marching Band and Orchestra and a member of the 野花社区视频 Rocket Marching Band! I graduated high school in 1977 in Colorado Springs, then made my way back to Texas.  I am proud to be living back in Kirby.  Back home!

My husband Roy and I have been married since 1980.  We have 2 wonderful adult daughters.  My oldest daughter Victoria attended school in NEISD and Roosevelt High School and my youngest daughter Abigail started off in NEISD and finished in 野花社区视频 ISD, graduating from Karen Wagner High School-Class of 2011!

I attended San Antonio College where I received my Associated Degree in American Sign Language and then transferred to Texas State University-San Marcos and received my Bachelor’s Degree and Teacher Certification as an ESL Early Childhood-6th Grade Certificate in 2012.

I am a second-career teacher.  I worked in a Dermatopathology Lab for 25+ years.  I volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and Trainer for 25 years as well.  It was while working with the girls in Girl Scouts that my true passion for teaching became apparent. I enrolled in college later than most but loved every minute of my college experience.  I did my student teaching here at Converse and was very fortunate to be hired shortly after graduation.  Prior to the Pandemic, I was a part of the Duke University faculty as an instructor and academic coordinator for the Duke TIP Crisis summer residential program for identified Gifted & Talented students in 5th & 6th grades.

I hope that your child and I build a lasting relationship.  I want them to be the BEST they can be in life and know that I will always cherish our time together. Here is to a wonderful year!
