Hello!! My name is Vanessa Ortega and I will be your 5th grade teacher this year. I am excited to be your child's teacher and working together with you to make this year successful. I have been in education for 13 years now. This will be my 6th year teaching 5th grade here at Crestview. I have been with JISD for 11 years. I previously taught Pre-K for a year here at Crestview. I was a teacher's assistant at Pre-K for SA for 2 years and special education aide at Hartman for 3 years. I also worked on base at Ft Sam, with the Youth Programs for 2 years. I graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word in May 2016 with a bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am currently certified EC-6 with a Minor in Reading and Special Education. I am currently working on my Master's in Admin Leadership here at Texas A&M San Antonio.

I am a proud alumni from JISD, class of 2003. I have 3 children. All have attended Crestview. Natalia is a senior this year at Veterans Memorial High School '24, Juan is at Kitty HAwk and Nayeli is here at Crestview and my husband, Juan,  also works here in JISD in our Maintenance Dept as a Carpenter. I’m looking forward to a fun and exciting 2022-2023 school year! 

When I’m not in the classroom, I love to spend time with my family, travelling and making memories with my family.
