History & Mission

  • Masters Elementary celebrated our 10th year anniversary in 2019.  Masters Elementary was named after James (Jim) L. Masters. He was born in the Fairview Community of Wilson County. Rural hard ships, deprivation and the Great Depression were a way of life for his large family early on. However, hard times failed to deter his ambition and determination to succeed. James was among the graduating class of '40 from Floresville High School where he was a spirited "TIGER" under the beloved Coach "Sock" Irwin. James' military assignment took him to the South Pacific with the 13th Air Force where he participated in 42 combat missions. Upon his return from WW-II he formed his own business, J.L. Masters & Sons Custom Home Builders, which still exists today under the supervision of his sons. He lived and raised his family in the Kirby community where he served on various committees and the City Council. He donated the Kirby Little League Field as playground to his community. James joined the 野花社区视频 Board of Trustees in 1967. James was loved and respected by all who knew him, and he used his time as a public servant to ensure the children of his community had the opportunity to get a quality education and well-rounded upbringing. His character embodied hard work, honesty, humility and generosity to a fault. His legacy lives on at Masters Elementary to this day.
